MIDDLE YEARS
GRADES 7–8

The Middle Years at St. Ignatius are where confidence grows, independence takes hold, and learning accelerates. Academic expectations rise — and students rise with them — building strong skills in literacy, mathematics, and science that prepare them for high school and beyond.

Students are given greater ownership of their learning in a structured, supportive environment that develops critical thinking, organization, and responsibility. Learning is active and engaging, with opportunities to collaborate, problem-solve, create, and communicate with confidence.

Beyond the classroom, students explore leadership, athletics, clubs, and co-curriculars. Specialized programming in industrial arts, graphics and design, drama, and visual arts adds creativity and real-world skill development. French continues with approximately 160 minutes per school cycle, focused on real-life communication and cultural understanding. Grade 7 explores global citizenship, while Grade 8 examines historical civilizations and their impact on the modern world.

Faith remains a steady guide through daily prayer, religious education, and school liturgies, with Grade 7 Confirmation preparation supporting growth in maturity and leadership.

Graduates leave St. Ignatius confident, capable, and well prepared for the expectations of leading high schools, including St. Paul’s High School and St. Mary’s Academy.
