Principal's Message

Dear parents and guardians:

Now really, who doesn't like Spring? birds, butterflies, buds and blooms bursting  with new life; warmer sunlight kissing your cheeks; yard work and projects dancing with energy and hope. It is a season that connects me to Gerard Manley Hopkin's beautiful line about nature; " there lives the dearest, freshness deep down things" The very word "spring" is packed with other meanings that relate so well to the season.  The energy and bounce in a coil and a pure underground water source are aptly and wonderfully named with the same word. It is thus fitting that we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus at this time of the year.  The warmth, hope and new life Christ brings is mirrored in nature herself.

Staff and students at St. Ignatius school are learning that after our 40 days of fasting and preparing we now enter 50 days of feasting and rejoicing. The Church wisely encourages us to be joyful and really celebrate for 50 days because she knows how easy we tend to be cheerless and heavy. During this season let us commit ourselves to being more joyful. Let's ensure we tell our faces about it and really share some smiles and caring looks at each other. In this way we can make the Resurrection a little more real.

Peace and Joy,

Mr. G. Palahicky
