Grade 7

Forever Rely On God
(FROG)
Brenda Probetts has primarily been an English Language Arts and social studies teacher for her whole career at St. Ignatius School. She particularly enjoys extra-curricular activities which involve students in leadership roles. Her future plans involve learning more about how students learn and how to objectively assess their learning.
AND THE LEARNING AND FUN CONTINUES
We are in for a whirlwind of learning and fun. In both grade seven and eight, we have just finished presenting puppet plays. It was a treat to view different interpretations of the assignments as well as the creativity that went into the creation of puppets. The month of February promises to be filled with challenges and much learning.
Grade seven will be focusing on expository writing. They are learning about presenting facts and the necessary components of a variety of genres such as newpaper reports, informational paragraphs and business letters. In social studies we are considering homelessness and our response to the plight of so many people in our city.
The grade eight class is considering narrative writing and using the writing traits to secure storylines which demonstrate all that they know as writers. The focus has been on historical fiction, monologues, and personal narratives. The social studies program will involve the study of Ancient Egypt.
Perhaps the highlight of February will be winter camp. We will be heading out on the highway to Camp Arnes for three days of cross country skiing, fishing, snowshoeing, and swimming. The Winter Camp Committee has been working very hard to assure everyone has opportunites to learn new skills and, in doing so, forms new friendships.
And so we continue to listen to God's call to be the best we can be and in so, glorify His name.
Namaste
