WHAT'S  HAPPENING IN GRADE FOUR .  .  .

In social studies, the Canadian province Powerpoint presentations are just about finished!!   The students will be sharing their research and pictures with their classmates next week.

What fun it is to follow the Olympics!  We are keeping track of Canada's medals and learning about different sports that are part of the games, and of course colouring some pretty cool Olympic pictures.

What fun it was celebrating Catholic Schools' Week this year!  Students in grades 3 - 6 had a blast at Harbour View.  Skating and toboganning was so much fun, and we were the only school there!  We were also blessed with beautiful sunny weather!

As part of Catholic Schools' week, each class chose a special Faith Hero.  Our class chose Father Brian Massie.  He indeed was an inspiration to us in what he said and what he did.  The students' shared many memoriesof him . . ." he was funny, he told wonderful stories, he was courageous, he was down to earth, he always smiled, he always made me feel important, I know how much he loved God", and so many more.  Please see a picture of the poster we made of our hero below.  We will never forget Father Massie!

The students wrote about other heroes in their lives.  Here are a couple of pieces that were written by the students:

Uncle Brent

Uncle Brent is my hero because he is funny and makes me laugh!  His guitar playing inspires me.  He is very gentle with animals.  He lives in the country and has two horses.  In the winter we go to his house, and since he owns lots of open fields, we can make huge forts.  He is my Godfather, and came to my First Communion.  I love my uncle Brent.  When we go to his house, we ride his horses.  Their names are Jet and Boo.

 Tata

My hero is  my Tata (Grandfather).  He is my dad's father.  He is inspirational to me.  Tata is inspirational to me because he is talented in cooking, storytelling, art and carpentry.  He is also kind and generous, which is another reason why he is my hero.  Every night that Tata comes over to take care of  my sister and me, he stuns us with his amazing stories of his childhood.  He's very enduring and doesn't give up, even in the hardest of situations.  Some of my skill at drawing comes from him, because I've watched him draw and have become inspired.
