Here We Come!

Eileen Eliasson is the grade one teacher at St. Ignatius School.  She considers it to be a privilege to teach this very important grade.  She loves to challenge young learners to really think about their big, beautiful world.  Turning children's interests into personal learning experiences is a constant goal for Mrs. Eliasson.

 

 Dear Kindergarten Students,

It has been a fabulous year in grade one, and we've changed so much since we started school last September. We know so many more things now that we didn't know a year ago, and we want to share some of these things with you. So, here are 26 tips for you before you begin grade one. Please remind your parents to open the school supplies attachment at the bottom of the page so you can be ready for school in September.

  • 1. We have a Smart Board, and we do lots of work on it. A.I.
  • 2. Grade one is different. You get your own desk. J.W.
  • 3. In grade one you have to take a tiny paper and give it to the teacher and tell her what word you want to spell, K.P.
  • 4. Kindergarten you should bring supplies. I'm not joking. Grade one is a little hard. E.G.
  • 5. When you go to grade one you have to remember to wake up early. Q.R.
  • 6. You read everyday. You bring your backpack every day, too. A.M.
  • 7. You will need to have indoor shoes in grade one. H.H.
  • 8. You will need to stack up your chair at the end of the day. A.C.

 

  • 9. You need to bring your lunch and you need crayons. D.E.
  • 10. Be prepared for work in grade one. A.O.
  • 11. Do you know about grade one? There is so much to learn. I love grade one! J.A.
  • 12. You will put on a fun tea party for your parents. W.C.
  • 13. You will have fun in grade one. When you see the teacher, say hi. A.O.
  • 14. In grade one you will have three recesses and you will have to wake up earlier. J.A.
  • 15. You could have four recesses if you get to school really early. You might have to bring a Manitoba stuffed animal to school for camp. E.M.
  • 16. In grade one you will have a grade eight buddy. M.M.

 

 

  • 17. In grade one we have lots of math. You should practice your numbers over the summer. S.C.
  • 18. Be prepared to write. S.P
  • 19. You will have a different classroom, and you will go to the farm. B.D
  • 20. Grade one is a good place. Grade one is cool. C.G.
  • 21. Grade one is easy and a little bit hard. You will get used to it. You might meet new friends. S.S.
  • 22. Your teacher will be Mrs. Eliasson J. H.
  • 23. In grade one you will read and write by yourself. I.Z.
  • 24. The teachers are nice, and the math is hard. L.G.

  • 26. Be sure to watch where you are going on the playground, and get a teacher if you are hurt. A.V.
